Avery graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Texas A&M University. Upon graduation, Avery moved to Dallas and spent several years working in Commercial Real Estate. Avery has been interested in other people’s stories for as long as she can remember, and ultimately decided to pursue a career in counseling after experiencing healing and transformation through her own therapy. She received her Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary, is a Licensed Professional Counselor and is EMDRIA trained in EMDR therapy.
Avery believes that a safe and trustworthy therapeutic relationship is a powerful agent for healing, and desires to create a warm, non-judgmental and compassionate environment where she can listen to and collaborate with her clients to help them meet their therapeutic goals. Through her time in private practice, Avery has enjoyed working closely with individuals seeking healing from trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, perfectionism, boundary issues, grief and loss, and burnout.
Avery draws from several theories to provide treatment approaches tailored to her client’s unique needs. She considers it a privilege to walk alongside her clients on their unique journeys and to be trusted with their stories.
When she’s not at Magnolia Avery enjoys a good book, trying new restaurants and recipes, spending time outside (preferably with her husband and their pets), and travelling to both new and familiar places.
