Michael is a native of Stephenville, Texas who moved to the Dallas area in 2002. He earned his counseling master’s at Dallas Theological Seminary and completed the program in 2008. He completed his internship and has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2011.
He began work at Gaston House Transitional living, working with young men who have just completed inpatient substance abuse treatment and trying to re-integrate into everyday society. This experience led to a position with The Right Step treatment center, where he directed an Intensive Outpatient program for adolescents and adults in Plano, Texas. He then moved into individual therapy and case management in before entering private practice in 2014. He is a founder of Magnolia Counseling Group.
While he has experience counseling many different clients with varied struggles, Michael’s past experience working as a teacher and volunteer gives him a unique perspective in helping young adults cope with the issues they face in life transition. He tries to think outside the realm of traditional office counseling and often encourages clients to get out and learn healthy life skills as part of his therapy. His areas of specialization include working with young adults, substance abuse and addiction, depression, anxiety and OCD, and improving communication in all types of relationships, including pre-marital and couples counseling. Michael’s goal with all clients is to help them identify and confront false messages from past experiences and relationships.
Michael has lived in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas since 2007 with his wonderful wife, daughter and two sons.
